Original gift ideas for babies
Babies are usually very easy to please and there is nothing sweeter than a melt-your-heart chirruping of a happy child. They love all things colourful, soundful and fun to place in their small mouths. They don’t pay attention to labels, prices and brands.
If you want to make a baby (and its mum) really glad though, think about the age, functional development and specific needs of the baby. Alternatively, get a present which the baby will enjoy when it grows up, a present which will remind the kid and its parents of times past.
The usual and easiest presents for babies are colourful books with fairy tales, clothes and toys. If you go for clothes, always get bigger numbers which suit the respective season, but if you choose toys, they should be suitable for the baby’s age.
But if you choose to go off the beaten track, you have to unleash your imagination and get ready for some creative work. Here are several ideas of original super cute and nice gifts for babies, both boys and girls, which you might find useful.
Build and destroy
Toddlers find it pretty entertaining to play with pyramids of circles which they order one on top of the other. They simply adore objects, which they can place in boxes, small soft cubes and so on. They are really good at building walls and other “structures”, which they can destroy in a split second.
Make something yourself
You can give a home-made healthy cake made of organic products and embellish it with natural edible hues. You might also want to make a raggy doll, which no other kid will have. Just as nice is a hand-made scrapbook containing special useful information for the baby – for example, there may be pages dedicated to healthy teeth, mum and dad, a walk in the forest, the sun, my friends and so on. If you invest enough imagination and time, such a present will be something to keep for life.
A plate number for the pram is yet another original gift which the kid might like (and surely its parents will). The plates usually contain the baby’s name and date of birth. A funny text such as “If you think I’m cute, you should see my dad” is also sweet. Make sure you know all details correctly.
We all cherish sweet memories and keep signs of them. You can either make a memory box yourself or buy it. If you choose to make one yourself, you only need the baby’s photo, a gift box and some decoration. The boxes that you can buy in stores have several drawers for a lock of hair, the first tooth, a photo with sweet sleepy faces and so on.
A money box is a baby gift, to put it this way, in perspective. A sweet piggy bank can be the first lesson in saving which the child can take when it grows up. If the baby is too impatient to use its gift before it’s old enough, be sure that it will find ways to have fun with it – it will enjoy the sound of small change in it.
There are many websites and stores where they make personalised souvenirs. If you want to be truly original though, get the baby’s fingerprints printed out on a T-shirt or on a clay charm. You can find fingerprint sets in many versions – for the hand, for the fingers, for the foot and so on.
